Yvonne Nelson asks Imani Ghana to partner with her for 'Dumsor Demonstration'
Yvonne Nelson, a well-known actress from Ghana, has urged Think Tank and IMANI Ghana to join forces for a second demonstration in response to the nation’s recent unpredictable power outages. In a tweet on April 22, the film producer stated that she was ready to work with IMANI Ghana once more to organise a large-scale protest against the Akufo-Addo administration for the nation’s ongoing power shortages.
Back in 2015, the actress spearheaded a large-scale demonstration against the John Mahama administration that drew together a number of celebrities over “dumsor.”
Yvonne Nelson said in a tweet that IMANI Ghana had backed her 2015 “dumsor” protest and that she wanted the same thing done to the present administration. Recently, there has been frequent “dumsor” throughout Ghana; many people have called for a load-shedding schedule despite the government’s denial that “dumsor” is returning.
Other energy specialists have also criticised the administration for handling the crisis so poorly. The government has also come under fire from Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a special assistant to former president John Dramani Mahama, for “failing to take responsibility for the power crisis (Dumsor) in the country.”
“These power outages must be condemned, especially when those responsible refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions that have led to the consequences we are experiencing,” she stated in response to a question about the energy issues on her X platform. “Unbearable suffering, joblessness, theft, corruption, land grabs, and now absolute darkness and a disdain for our most basic need!
“They campaigned by riding the wave of disinformation. Where is the excess electricity that we didn’t use or need? Please give it to us right away! lied to win the election, used propaganda and lies to govern, and are now making a concerted effort to deceive us. The darkness has exposed them.
