Trump and Biden debate raises eyebrows, netizens scrutinises strange behaviours and overall victor
Trump and Biden had an intense face-off yesterday during their debate. Many Americans doubted Joe Biden’s age and suitability for government before Thursday night. It might be one of the year’s biggest understatements to say that this debate did not alleviate those worries. The president had a low bar to meet going into the discussion, yet he faltered. He had no depth. He was talking incoherently. He wasn’t sure, BBC quoted.
To explain the president’s raspy voice, the Biden team claimed halfway through the debate that the president was suffering from a cold. That may be the case, but it also seemed like a justification. He was in a tight spot for ninety minutes most of the time, and especially so early in the evening, some of his responses made little sense.
He abruptly stopped responding and said, “We finally beat Medicare,” making a strange allusion to the government-run healthcare plan for older people. Following the debate, Mr Biden’s former director of communications, Kate Bedingfield, made it plain on CNN, saying, “There are no two ways about it, that was not a good debate for Joe Biden.” According to her, his biggest challenge was demonstrating that he had the stamina and vitality he had failed to achieve.
Like a boxer on the ropes, Mr. Biden swung hard at his opponent as the debate continued, trying to shift the tide. A handful of those strikes landed, evoking furious reactions from Donald Trump. The president’s situation was worse because CNN’s moderators’ first few questions were about immigration and the economy, two topics on which surveys indicate Americans trust Trump more than others.
“I don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence, and I don’t think he did, either,” Trump said after another Biden response. According to BBC, that line may have summed up the night.
