Thomas Tuchel and Bayern plot comeback against Lazio, says there is no time to lose
Thomas Tuchel and Bayern are focusing on emerging victorious in their upcoming competition. In their bid to overcome a 1-0 home deficit against Lazio in Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 second leg, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel stated his team cannot afford to be patient.
“The time is on Lazio’s side,” Thomas Tuchel told reporters on Monday. “We’ve got no time to lose. We can’t be patient if it’s just about keeping ball possession. We have just 90 minutes. We can’t take time to wait for our first attack or pass to the other side instead of taking an opportunity.”
He added, saying, “We need to play with a cool head, but we need to play to score goals.” Less than a year after taking over for the fired Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel will depart Bayern at the end of the current campaign, the team confirmed in February.
According to Sportsbrief, with ten games remaining, Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern, who have won the last eleven league crowns in a row, are now 10 points behind Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen. Bringing the Champions League trophy to Munich may be Bayern’s last chance to avoid a first trophyless season since 2012. Bayern’s hopes of winning the Bundesliga are fading quickly.
According to German media, the notoriously prickly coach may lose his job as soon as Tuesday, despite the club’s administration promising that he will stay on for the entire season. A year after leading Paris Saint-Germain to the 2020 Champions League final, where Bayern defeated them, Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.
