Thomas Partey shares proud quote with Arsenal
Following the club’s Community Shield victory, Thomas Partey, an Arsenal midfielder, expressed his pride in being a member.
The 30-year-old gave it his all as Mikel Arteta’s team held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw before defeating them in the Community Shield final on penalties.
Partey and Declan Rice, the £105 million player for Arsenal, took the field together at the beginning of the game, controlling play.
But in the 77th minute, substitute Cole Palmer gave Manchester City the lead with a beautiful looping goal.
Leandro Trossard scored the equalize in the 101st minute to force a shootout for Arsenal, who were able to battle back and take advantage of the extended additional time.
In the subsequent shootout, the Gunners prevailed 4-1 over their opponents to claim the Community Shield.
While Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri failed to score for Manchester City, Martin Odegaard, Trossard, Bukayo Saka, and Fabio Vieira scored.
Partey expressed his joy at being a member of the team on Instagram after the game as Arsenal won the Community Shield.
