Stonebwoy, TGMA AOTY 'trashes' Baba Sadiq's disagreement on his win in latest interviews
Stonebwoy, who won the 25th TGMA’s Artiste of the Year (AOTY) award, responded to Baba Sadiq’s encouragement of King Promise to take home the title. Baba Sadiq, a well-known figure in the entertainment world, openly supported King Promise’s choice to select the Artiste of the Year before the ceremony.
During his first official interview following his win, Stonebwoy disregarded Baba Sadiq’s assertion that King Promise should have received the Artiste of the Year Award. According to the Reggae Dancehall singer, the results disproved Baba Sadiq’s point of view. “I wasn’t disappointed by his decision to go with King Promise.” In an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3, he stated on Friday, June 7, that “I think the results have ultimately taught him that he does not hold any water when it comes to the reality, and it stays as an opinion.”
At the recently concluded Ghana Music Awards, Stonebwoy received 13 nominations and won six prizes, including the Reggae Dancehall Artiste and Artiste of the Year titles. In response to the discussion on social media concerning his and King Promise’s AOTY award before the event, Stonebwoy stated that he was unaware of the topic until a week before the event.
The nine-time Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year expressed his wish that the other nominees in the category would receive the same recognition as he and King Promise. He claimed that by concentrating exclusively on two of the six artists, it appeared as though the other nominees had not worked very hard in the year under review.
“There was more to this than just Stonebwoy and King Promise, and I wished we shared the spotlight with all the nominees.” It would become a reality if the remaining five or six nominees received the same attention.” Stonebwoy said. On Friday, June 7, he told Berla Mundi, “It nearly always takes away the reality that all nominees have worked, not just the two. Stonebwoy thinks the public shouldn’t choose the top two candidates for Artiste of the Year.
