JoyNews reported that Yakubu Mahama, the vice regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is said to have been brutalised by some troops stationed in a galamsey area in Bole, Savannah Region.
According to reports, the soldiers were dispatched to guard Chinese nationals who were mining illegally in the area. Yakubu Mahama allegedly asked to meet with the team leader, which led to a dispute.
