Assisat Oshola speaks about her goal celebration
Australia’s Emily van Egmond had opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time before Uchenna Kanu equalized with about the last kick of the opening exchanges.
Osinachi Ohale’s goal gave Nigeria the lead in the 65th minute, and Oshoala’s goal in the 72nd minute made it 3-1.
The Super Falcons famously prevailed 3-2 despite the Matildas’ late comeback attempt, which came too little, too late.
However, after Oshoala removed her shirt to celebrate her goal, the striker’s goal continued to draw comments.
However, she has claimed that her father would disapprove of such an outlandish celebration. She penned:
“My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS”.
Oshoala, who was raised in Mushin against the wishes of her Muslim parents, was born into a football-playing family in the Lagos State suburb of Ikorodu.
Goalballlive notes that despite this, she persisted in wanting to be a football player.
