Nana Acheampong speaks for the first time on rumoured 'beef' with Daddy Lumba in their prime
Nana Acheampong claims that he and his “brother,” Daddy Lumba, never had animosity or what many would refer to as a “beef.” On Monday, April 22, 2024, he addressed the belief that their alleged conflict was one of the first or even the most significant disputes between Ghanaian music superstars, in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo show.
“My brother and I never harboured animosity against one another, even though it might seem like we started this pattern of musical rivalries. He said, “There was never a problem between us”. He continued to elaborate, saying, “After working together on music for a while, what truly happened was a natural parting of ways. People conjectured that it was because of relationships or finances.”
“Fans who had admired us as a young, talented musical duo were disappointed.” For them, our breakup was a momentous occasion,” he continued. Nana Acheampong compared the division among their supporters to the fierce competition between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, two football teams competing for the same championship.
He clarified that any disputes arose mostly between the supporters, saying, “Neither he nor I ever publicly accused the other.”
He recalled the fan schism, saying, “They split into two groups, Daddy Lumba Football Club and Nana Acheampong Football Club, and they started fighting.” Nevertheless, my brother and I had no ill will towards one another.”
“We didn’t engage in the modern practice of exchanging verbal jabs,” he claimed, denying that they also produced beef songs for each other. All that our music did was reflect life.”
According to Pulse, Acheampong Nana underlined “Those songs, in my opinion, weren’t directed at me. Neither them nor I claim ownership of them. They were just made available to amuse our supporters.” He restated that his music simply represented his experiences in life and that he had never produced or published a diss tune.
