Naana Opoku-Agyemang, former running mare for John Mahama calls out Nana Addo on Ekumfi saga
Naana Opoku-Agyemang has added her voice to the Ekumfi saga and the backlash Nana Addo faces. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has come under fire from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate for 2020 for his remarks regarding the development of Ekumfi.
Because the people of Ekumfi in the central region voted Francis Ato Cudjoe out of parliament in the 2020 elections, President Akufo-Addo stated that he did not give the area’s development needs any thought.
Speaking at the Jubilee House with traditional chiefs from Ekumfi, Mr Akufo-Addo expressed his disappointment over Ato Cudjoe’s defeat. The president claimed that even though the people made “him [Ato Cudjoe] a deputy minister,” they voted him out.
“I have to be honest with you. I did not pay attention to development in your area, but since you brought it up, I will pay attention to it. Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister. You voted him out in the last elections.” Nevertheless, he pledged to use his best efforts to develop the area.
3News detailed that in response, Naana Opoku-Agyemang wrote in a statement shared on her Facebook page, “Our president has been consistent in blaming his failures and woes on those he claims do not vote for him. No one has forgotten his response to the Paramount Chief from Aflao, Torgbui Adzonu-Gaga Amenya Fiti V, regarding finishing one of our e-blocks to avoid needless stress.”
