Mohammed Kudus proved to David Moyes that he is a suitable startup player for West Ham United after they beat Topola by three goals to one. The first half of the match remained goalless. In the 47th minute, Petar Stanić scored the match’s opening goal for Bačka Topola.
The Serbian side surprised West Ham two minutes into the second half by finding the net to surpass the English side. However, in the 66th minute, Nemanja Petrović scored an own goal to help West Ham equalize with their opponent. Mohammed Kudus celebrated their goal with his teammate, Danny Ings.
Four minutes after West Ham’s equalizer, Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian international, converted a corner kick by Ward-Prowse into the net. West Ham led Topola by a goal difference until the 82nd minute, when a substitute, Tomáš Souček, converted an assist from J. Ward-Prowse into the third goal for West Ham to extend their lead by two.
After the 90th minute, West Ham United won their first Europa League match at the London Stadium. West Ham will play their next premier league match with Liverpool on Sunday, September 24th, and their second Europa League match with SC Freiburg on Thursday, October 5th, 2023.
