
Michael Render causes stir after his arrest hours after sweeping 3 Grammy Awards
Michael Render, better known to his followers as the rapper Killer Mike, had an unexpected twist to his happy Grammy night when he was arrested by the police near the event location. Render was hauled into custody after an alleged physical incident outside the Crypto.com Arena just hours after receiving three prizes.
Police reportedly took the 48-year-old artist into custody on Sunday at 4 PM PT. According to reports, The Los Angeles Police Department said that a man was detained Sunday afternoon in connection with a “physical altercation.” The incident happened near the arena, and he was arrested on a misdemeanour violence charge.
The artist was released on recognizance at about 8:37 p.m. PST with a Feb. 29 court date. The incident coincided with his Grammy victories, when he was awarded Best Rap Album for his work on “Michael,” Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance for his song “Scientists & Engineers.”
Requests for comment on the subject have not yet received a response from the artist’s representation. The incident gives the American rapper’s spectacular Grammy night a surprising twist, even though the specifics of the altercation are still unknown.
