Messi reveals Inter Miami as his last club
Lionel Messi, the Argentine superstar football player, says he anticipates concluding his illustrious playing career with Inter Miami, although he does not plan to leave the team immediately. Messi, who signed a contract with the MLS team that runs until the conclusion of the 2025 season, spoke with ESPN in an interview that aired on Wednesday.
“Yes, I believe this will be my last club as of right now,” Messi said to ESPN. The 37-year-old Messi also said, “I’m not ready to leave football either.” With Barcelona, the record eight-time Ballon d’Or winner rose to legendary status as he helped the team win 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League championships.
Messi, who led Argentina to triumphs in the 2021 Copa America and 2022 World Cup, will represent his country in this month’s Copa America, which will take place in the US. Messi played for Barcelona from 2004 to 2021 and Paris Saint-Germain from 2021 to 2023 and joined Inter Miami last year. During his early years with the team, Messi helped the team win the League Cup.
“It was difficult to leave Europe to come here,” he stated. “The fact of having been world champion helped a lot to see things differently also.” He added. Messi’s meteoric rise to fame increased MLS’s visibility in the US, with his shirt being the most sought-after by fans of the league and his games consistently selling out anywhere he plays.
Now that the USA, Mexico, and Canada will co-host the 2026 World Cup, Messi is considering representing his country and the end of his fantastic career. “I have done this all my life. I adore using a ball for play. Every day of the matches, I look forward to the daily workout. A bit terrified that it won’t end,” the former Barcelona legend remarked.
“I make an effort to have fun. I had a great time at the club and was conscious that there wasn’t much time left, so I enjoyed everything much more. “How fortunate I am to have friends and coworkers by my side. I enjoyed the small things that I know I’ll miss when I stop playing, and I had a nice time at the selection, where I also have a lot of friends and teammates.” He detailed.
