Mahama reveals he is against LGBTQ, gives reasons and advises incumbent gov't
Mahama has made other revelations and established his stance on the controversial LGBTQ movement attempts in Ghana. In an attempt to regain control of the National Democratic Congress, former president John Dramani Mahama has commented on the LGBTQ issue and compared his position to that of an Assembly of God member.
Mahama strongly disapproved of LGBTQ relationships on his Building Ghana Campaign tour, stressing the need to protect nature and God’s natural purpose for humans. The former president accused President Akufo Addo and the current administration of being reluctant to sign the anti-LGBTQ bill that is presently being debated in parliament.
The former president accused President Akufo Addo and the current administration of being reluctant to sign the anti-LGBTQ bill that is presently being debated in parliament. Citing technical grounds, he implied that the bill costs the state money. Mahama pleaded with the legislature to rethink and reach a compromise with the administration to facilitate the bill’s signing into law following its passage.
Mahama emphasized the conventional view of gender roles when she said, “As an Assemblies of God member, my faith does not permit LGBTQ, where men have sexual relationships with fellow males and females do the same with fellow females.”
“A man is a man, and a woman is a woman; people cannot simply decide their gender in opposition to nature’s design for humankind,” he declared. God has a purpose for creating both men and women.
The crowd applauded at Mahama’s remarks, suggesting that everyone there agreed with his position. In Ghana, the LGBTQ debate has been a divisive topic with differing opinions. Mahama’s firm stance on gender and sexuality is in line with the beliefs of a sizable portion of the populace that adheres to conventional and conservative viewpoints.
