Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Bayern Munich job with Thomas Tuchel departing Bundesliga giants
Jose Mourinho reportedly has his sights set on becoming the manager of Bayern Munich, a team in the Bundesliga. The Serie A team A.S. Roma fired the renowned manager a few months ago, and he is currently unemployed. The Rome-based team fired Mourinho in January following a run of lacklustre performances.
According to SPORTbible, Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked to a return to the English top flight, with Chelsea and Newcastle United being mentioned as potential destinations. A move to coach a national team is also an option for the former Manchester United manager, possibly even in his native Portugal.
It has since come to light that the Portuguese tactician is looking for a fresh challenge in a league he has never coached. According to the German publication BILD, The Special One is reportedly aiming to take over as Bayern manager. With Thomas Tuchel expected to leave the team at the end of the campaign, the defending Bundesliga champions are now looking for a new manager.
Ralf Rangnick, a former Manchester United manager, is rumoured to have been considered a potential successor for the departing Bayern manager in the summer. Rangnick, however, is said to have declined the position, dealing a severe blow to Bayern.
This development leaves Mourinho as one of the frontrunners for the Allianz Arena hot seat. The ex-Chelsea man recently expressed his desire to return to the dugout: “In the last two years, I reached two European finals. I want to train; it is a fundamental part of my life; without training, there is no happiness.”
