Erik Ten Hag's future at Manchester United decided after season review
Erik Ten Hag’s dedication to his work as Manchester United’s manager has earned him an extended contract. After the Premier League club reviewed the Dutch manager’s performance, Erik Ten Hag will likely stay as Manchester United’s coach.
With 60 points and an eighth-place finish, he guided the Red Devils to one of their worst-ever EPL finishes and couldn’t advance to the next UEFA Champions League group stage.
But according to Manchester Evening News, the 54-year-old manager led United to the FA Cup victory, defeating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley to take home the domestic title. Reportedly, Man United reviewed Ten Hag’s performance and the 2023–24 season after the triumph.
According to The Athletic, after a two-week evaluation of the 2023–24 campaign, Man United has chosen to keep Ten Hag as their coach. The article states that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner, and Sir Dave Brailsford, the sporting director of INEOS, were influential in this choice.
Ten Hag’s contract will expire in the summer of next year, and talks to extend it have begun. The club anticipates negotiating a new contract with the former Ajax boss.
The team reportedly contacted Roberto De Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino as possible successors before a probable managerial move. It appears that Man United will maintain the status quo for now.
Even though Ten Hag has had difficulties throughout his time at United, he has also had some noteworthy achievements at Old Trafford. According to Givemesport, he guided the squad to a third-place result in his rookie season and won the Carabao Cup in February 2023.
