Chelsea suffered a 2 – 1 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park today
Chelsea travelled to Goodison Park hoping to defeat Everton like they did on August 6, 2022. Everton beat Newcastle last Thursday, and Chelsea lost to Manchester United last Wednesday. A win for Chelsea will move them above Fulham, and Everton’s will keep them out of the relegation zone.
The first half of the game ended in a goalless draw, with each side maintaining its confidence levels. In the second half, the home side proved they couldn’t keep slipping into the relegation zone, so Abdoulaye Doucouré capitalised on Sanchez’s uncontrolled safe to break the deadlock.
The Blues and The Toffees continued finding spaces to score, but to Chelsea’s surprise, Lewis Dobbing doubled down on The Toffees’s lead in the 90+2 minutes to keep Chelsea out of getting a point at the Toffees’ home. In the end, Everton won by two goals.
Everton had 28% possession, nine shots with five on target, 257 passes with 64% accuracy, twelve fouls, two yellow cards, two offsides and four corners. Chelsea had 72% possession, sixteen shots with four on target, 687 passes with 86% accuracy, twelve fouls, two yellow cards, one offside, and eight corners.
In the last ten Premier League games between The Toffees and The Blues, The Toffees won five, The Blues won three, and two resulted in a draw. The last time Chelsea defeated Everton in a Premier League game was August 6, 2022, at Goodison Park.
